Domaine evremond - TaIttinger’s first steps on english soil
Back in September 2024, Domaine Evremond, an English sparkling wine, came to fruition in Chilham, Kent. This is a partnership between the French champagne house, Taittinger, and Hatch Mansfield. The launch has been in development for several years, so it was only fitting to mark the occasion with a big celebration.
The day started with a dignitaries lunch for 200 people held in the press hall. Guests from all aspects of the winemaking industry were welcomed by the Duchess of Wessex to try the first batch of Domaine Evremond - a very exciting moment for all!
The lunch began with a starter of Salt Baked Beetroot with Courgette Purée, Trombetta Courgette, Torched Grelot Onions, Nasturtium, British Feta, Dill and Buttermilk Dressing and a Chickpea Wafer.
This was followed by Roast Chicken, with Chicken and Maderia Jus, Crushed Roseval New Potatoes, Swiss Chard, Baby Leeks, Charred Sweetcorn and Smoked Butter.
To finish, the guests were served a trio of puddings; Kingcott Blue Cheese with a Pear Relish and Rosemary Cracker, an Amaretto Chocolate Truffle and a Lemon Tart with Blackberry.
In typical English fashion the heavens opened, so the idea of an outdoor evening drinks reception was off the cards. Alongside the Domaine Evremond team, we turned the press hall around into a space for 400 people to try the new English sparkling whilst the other half were prepping the beautiful sail cloth marquee provided by Sail & Peg for canapés and bowl food. The talented Vanessa from Sage & Co crafted a display of seasonal flowers and designs, incorporating the grapes from the vineyards on-site.
It was truly special to be part of such an incredible launch, and we are thrilled to watch Domaine Evremond flourish to its fullest potential with the support of their exceptional team. We can't wait to see what the future has in store!
